A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds.  ~Francis Bacon, Essays, 1625

How often do we miss opportunities because we are looking for something “better” – whether that be job, or home, partner or friend?  What if better opportunity came along in a lot of small parcels instead of one big package?  Would you recognize it?

I am not talking about making opportunities at someone else’s expense; the world is too full of those who take advantage and claim it was their “opportunity to take”.  Rather, it is the awareness that there is more than one way to be successful, opportunistic, and rich in life.  I am thankful for the creativity I have found the last few years, to see opportunities where I might not have before.  Sometimes indeed, one has to lose before finding. What have you found to be true in your life about recognizing opportunity?

  1. We get so busy being busy that when a friend asks, “So what have you been doing recently?” we can’t remember. I’ve been challenged recently to “remember”. To journal the days we’ve been given to live on earth. To remember. To capture life’s journey. To capture in a “Joy” book what we’ve been given, that are so easily forgotten. To take the opportunity to value our one life.
