Kindness and Animals

11/03/2012

this cutie in nyc is for adoption 0140

My vet posted this story today on her clinic’s facebook page.  This warms my heart! To hear the new owners talk about how this pet has taught them kindness and compassion was worth the post.  Enjoy – and give your pet a cuddle after reading!

  1. Great pet story! Thanks for sharing it. We bought our first two dogs as puppies and they both lived long lives and provided joy and companionship to our family. But last July we adopted Bella, an 18-month-old English Springer Spaniel out of a bad situation (yep, she’s my Gravatar and blogsite image). Bella’s been a challenge well beyond what we experienced with our Black Lab and Border Collie but she’s becoming a wonderful pet. Every time I get frustrated with her I remember her background and it reminds me to show patience and kindness to her. The Bellagator has brought immense joy to our family.

    • Glad you liked it! And glad to hear your story as well. I had a similar experience with a cat that was the “runt” nobody wanted, and I took him out of sympathy so he wouldn’t go to the pound. He was challenging as well but kept me company for 15 1/2 years – loved that little guy! Thanks for sharing your story – Bella is just what her name means – beautiful!

  2. I’m a sucker for a heartwarming doggy story! I somehow ended up with a 6 week old flea and worm infested puppy by total accident nearly 2 years ago when one of the young lads brought it in to the project asking if anyone wanted it, I had never been offered a dog before and I couldn’t say no. I instantly fell in love and it was by far one of the best decisions I ever made.
Thanks for sharing this story on your blog, it’s a lovely reminder of how we can easily end up with our 4 legged friends!
